Choosing a recording studio is a big deal. Careful consideration is important to make the right choice that works for your project.
Musicians prioritize several factors when choosing a recording studio, including the experience of the engineers and staff, the studio’s physical space and acoustic design, the quality of equipment and the cost.
A skilled engineer can significantly impact the final sound and efficiency of the recording process. Dave has a music career that includes performing professionally as a bassist for over 50 years. He brings a musician’s ear to sound engineering through decades of experience.
The studio size should be appropriate for the size of the group. The relaxed atmosphere of the spacious main room enhances focus and performance. The high ceilings in the studio along with the acoustic treatment on the walls provides a deeper and richer tone for musical instruments.
The quality of the studio instruments varies greatly with recording studios. It is rare to find a recording studio in New Mexico with a Steinway Grand Model B piano. This magnificent piano is excellent for those pianist that demand only the best piano for recording.

Sky Valley Studios is a “one of a kind” recording studio that is 100% powered by solar electric. Recording with solar electric power is uplifting and feels good.
Prior to building the studio facility we installed a large solar electric system. This system consists of 28 modules each at 335 watts. It is mounted on four 6 inch in diameter steel pipes. The system produces all of the power needed for the studio and for all of the buildings on the 20 acre compound. There are very few recording studios in the US that are 100% solar powered which is something we are proud to have accomplished.
