
Acoustic Design
Architectural acoustic design uses two properties of sound waves: reflection and absorption. The design of the room will determine how the sound waves are reflected and absorbed. The desired sound qualities can be created by the materials used and the size and shape of the room. We custom built the acoustic tiles with a dense fiber fill material and use a mix of soft foam on each wall to create a room with a rich tone.
The large windows have custom foam inserts that are put in for recording. The lofted cathedral roof was designed to be an open sound chamber and the 4” by 10” ceiling beams diffuse the sound. The thick rubber matting on the floor and the custom acoustic tiles on the walls absorb the reverberation in the room. In essence we were able to tune the room to have an exceptional sound quality for recording.
